By cultivating empathy and compassion, students will be better equipped to provide holistic care and create a positive environment for residents.
- Address the Psychological Impact of the Environment: While the physical aspects of the environment are crucial, instructors should also address the psychological impact it can have on residents. Teach students how to create a calming and supportive atmosphere that reduces stress and anxiety among residents. Discuss techniques for improving communication, active listening, and recognizing signs of distress or discomfort. Understanding the psychological aspects of the environment can lead to a more comprehensive approach to care.
- Encourage critical thinking and problem-solving using scenarios that require critical thinking and problem solving skills improve student outcomes. This assists students to develop their ability to assess unique situations and make informed decisions. A learning environment where questions are encouraged, and students are motivated to find solutions independently or collaboratively can make a positive difference in student success as a certified nurse aide.
